No, while UK faculty, staff, and students will have first priority in over 100 spots at the new center, CDCB continues its mission to provide the highest quality early education and intervention services to children with special needs in the community. Certainly this includes UK families whose children have special needs. The new facility is a “win-win” opportunity by providing another quality option for UK child care and allowing CDCB to continue and extend its mission for children with special needs.

We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and follow their ratio guidelines.

CDCB uses the AEPS (Assessment, Evaluation, Programming System) as a foundation for its assessment plan and curriculum. Each classroom’s lead teacher is responsible for designing the classroom environment and providing a curriculum to support social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development for all children. CDCB’s preschool program includes appropriate learning activities and teaching techniques in accordance with each child’s level of comprehension and maturation. We use supplementary curriculum like Handwriting without Tears and Letter People.

CDCB operates on an August-July school calendar. We are closed for one week of the year- in December (the week of Christmas). We are also closed for national holidays and staff training days during the year. A school calendar is provided at the beginning of each school year that details our schedule for the entire school year.

Tuition will be billed for 52 weeks.

6 weeks through Transitional Kindergarten

We offer occupational, physical, and speech/language therapy both for children enrolled in our preschool as well as outpatient clients.

Yes, CDCB has been providing early intervention and preschool services for over 50 years in an inclusive stimulating classroom environment where children with and without special needs learn side by side.

We provide breakfast, lunch, and snack for toddlers and preschoolers. Families of infants will be expected to provide their child’s formula and/or baby food.

We make every attempt to accommodate food allergies and family religious preferences. If a child requires specific food or drink substitutions, parents may be asked to provide the product. Note: We are a peanut free facility.

CDCB’s health policies are established to keep children and staff as healthy as possible throughout the school year. We cannot allow any child with signs of a casually transmitted communicable disease to attend CDCB. If we notice that your child exhibits a symptom of a contagious illness, we will care for your child in an isolated area away from other children until you can pick up your child. We will err on the side of caution in situations that are questionable. Please remember that our goal is to protect the health of all the children we serve. Children who have been sent home with one or more of these symptoms must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school or have received documented approval from a physician.

We make every attempt to open our center during inclement weather. Unfortunately, conditions occasionally make it necessary for us to operate on a delay or close the center. In those rare cases, the information will be posted on our website, on our Facebook page, and emailed to our parent distribution list as well as listed on local TV stations.
